Ten classrooms, an auditorium, labs and a cafeteria
The challenge
Ten rooms running simultaneous sessions meant acoustics were the whole project. The auditorium also needed tiered seating inside an existing flat slab.
Our solution
Classroom partitions were built full-height to the slab with insulation and staggered studs; door sets were specified with acoustic seals. The auditorium tiering was built as a light steel platform to avoid adding dead load to the slab.
Execution sequence
Structure and acoustics first, then AV and electrical, then finishes and furniture, then acoustic testing room by room.
Result
Measured speech transmission between adjacent classrooms met the target on handover, and the auditorium was delivered without any slab strengthening.
